THE BAD DAD ORCHESTRA formed in mid-2015 from a concept devised by the band's late guitarist Liam Guthrie.
The 9-piece band quickly established themselves as a powerhouse of Tasmania's live music scene. An export of the highest quality you can only expect from Tasmania's island state. With a rocking line-up of guitars, bass & drums, a keyboard & 3-piece horn section. THE BAD DAD ORCHESTRA brings big grooves, with snappy horn lines and catchy as hell vocals from front-man Jimi Steele.
Critics have likened THE BAD DAD ORCHESTRA to the classic sounds of Australian pub rock with a modern twist, whilst others have named it a unique brand of soul. Since establishing in 2016, THE BAD DAD ORCHESTRA have gratefully featured on some of Tasmania's most popular festival line-ups, including: Falls Festival, MOFO, Party in the Paddock, Dark MOFO, Forth Valley Blues Festival, Junction Arts Festival, Beerfest, The Taste of Tasmania, FOKI, Royal Eve, Festivale, Bruny Island Blues & Roots Festival and many, many more.
THE BAD DAD ORCHESTRA continues to build National attention following multiple tours across QLD, NSW, VIC, SA, WA and TAS; and high-profile interstate appearances at WOODFORD FOLK FESTIVAL, BLUES ON BROADBEACH, QUEENSCLIFF MUSIC FESTIVAL, GYMPIE MUSIC MUSTER, CALOUNDRA MUSIC FESTIVAL, BLUES at BRIDGETOWN, GIRRAKOOL BLUES FESTIVAL and many more.
2024 saw THE BAD DAD ORCHESTRA release their first studio album 'MAKIN' ME WILD', including singles 'Callin' Me Now', 'Birds of Prey (feat. Julian Moss', and title track 'Makin' Me Wild', THE BAD DAD ORCHESTRA, with attention from local audiences and commercial media. With a number of SOLD OUT shows under their belt, and more festival and tour bookings ahead, these nine Tasmanian Dads show no signs of slowing down anytime soon.
It's big, it's bad and it's Dad!!
"If there was any doubt, Makin' Me Wild cements The Bad Dad Orchestra's reputation as one of the best bands in
Australia. This album is brilliant, but something tells me these guys take the energy up a notch when they're in front of
a crowd. Find out for yourself when Bad Dad Orchestra visits your hometown on their album launch tour." Lauren
