Colin Illy Hill Band

Colin grew up in George Town, Tasmania where he taught himself guitar at 14 years of age and started 'messing around' in bands which then became a 'proper band'  called Paper Plane which started performing at the local pub and gigs in the memorial hall. A few years later [and definitely more skilled] he formed a well-known Northern Tasmanian band called "Anthem" which performed regularly at local and intrastate gigs [including 3 Basin Concerts]  for the next 6 years playing 50% original material and receiving popular support and critical acclaim. 

In 1984 Colin moved to Queensland and began playing professionally on the 'cover band circuit' playing 6 nights a week for the next 35 years as well as recording 3 original albums with hard rock band Dogs Next Door , pop rock duo Blonde leading the Blonde and Blues rock band SLAM as well as performing in backing bands for such artist as Glenn Shorrock [LRB], Brian Cadd and the late Max Merritt. He then went into 'the tribute band era' performing with 'High Voltage'[AC/DC tribute] then toured many places worldwide with ABBASOLUTELYFABBAULOUS [ABBA tribute] and 'It's a Kinda Magic' [Queen tribute]. 

In 2008 Colin relocated to Phuket Thailand where he still resides and he has Co-written, recorded and produced over 10 albumsfor various artists ,as well an Album of cover and original songsof his own.  He also teaches guitar studies in international school and teaches / mentors private students.

Colin still occasionally visits Tasmania and still consider  it a place where 'his roots and karma still exits'.
